The incident happened Thursday, July 13, at the Saratoga County jail, according to sheriff’s officials.

Caylee Ringer, age 26, of Salem in Washington County, was arrested at the jail after deputies discovered that she was allegedly trying to sneak suboxone into the facility.

The drug is often prescribed to treat people in recovery from opiate or opioid abuse.

Investigators determined that Ringer had brought the drug at the request of her boyfriend, 28-year-old Wyatt Carpenter, of Moreau, who was being held at the jail on unrelated charges.

Ringer was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and promoting prison contraband, both felonies. She was later released following her arraignment at the Town of Milton Court.

Carpenter is charged with attempted promoting prison contraband, a felony. He remains jailed at the facility ahead of his next court appearance.
